| Once again thank you for visiting my website. My name is Damian Kierans and I am a full time Personal Trainer and Martial Arts/Personal Protection Instructor in Co. Monaghan and the surrounding area. I have had an interest in health and fitness from a young age, being first introduced to weight lifting at the age of 12 by a cousin of mine who was a professional bodybuilder at the time. At the age of 16 I took up martial arts and I've been seriously involved in that ever since. I currently hold black belts in 7 different martial arts and have the rank of Master in three of them. | But I think that is more than enough about me, the question is what can I do for you? As your personal trainer you get to train with me on a 1-2-1 basis in my own private fitness studio or if you prefer you could bring you partner or friend (take a look at the training section for more details). Being a private studio you are able to train without having other people watching you or using the piece of equipment you had intended to use next. (The pictures below will give you an idea of what my studio is like). You will have a personalised programme that is designed by me for your specific goals, whether it is to lose weight, gain weight, increase muscle mass, improve your strength & conditioning for your next MMA fight or to improve your time in your next 10k run. I will design your programme to enable you to achieve your goals. I will teach you correct exercise technique to enable you to get the most out of each session. I will also give you nutritional advice to enable you to live a healthier lifestyle or to help improve your sports performance. |

All sessions are based around functional movements. So you won't be doing any leg curls or extension or any machine based exercises for that matter. Machine based exercises have no functional roll in real life. When have you ever lifted your heel up to your backside with a weight hanging off it? So that is not a functional way to train the hamstrings. Dead Lifts, RDL's, Squats (to name a few) are all functional exercises that not only train the hamstrings but also work almost all the muscles in the body. That same example can apply to all machine based exercises. The main reason weight machines were made was so that large volumes of beginners could train in a gym without the need for any real instruction. All exercises in my studio are done using Dumbbells, Barbells, Kettlebells, Bands, cables and calisthenic movements. I even use rope climbs, tyre lifts, sledgehammers, beer kegs and wheelbarrows etc. with people who are interested in that kind of training. I cater for all levels of fitness, so if you are someone who has never done any formal exercise or you have been stuck in a rut and have lost the motivation to get off the sofa and lose those few extra pounds or you have hit a plateau in your |
