Thank you for visiting my web site.
My name is Master Kierans, I am the chief instructor and founder of the Universal Combat Arts
Academy (UCAA) and a Master of Kyusho Jitsu (pressure point fighting). I am also the official
representative for Dillman Karate International (DKI) in Ireland.
The art I teach is called Ryukyu Kempo. This art incorporates both Tuite Jitsu and Kyusho
Jitsu. This is a traditional art but I teach it in a modern way, meaning that the techniques taught
have a practical use against attacks that happen in the real world.
I gave my organisation the name Universal Combat Arts Academy for the following reasons:
Universal - There are no boundaries to the techniques I teach. I have incorporated the
practical techniques from a wide range of martial arts and reality-based systems.
If the technique will work, I will teach it regardless of what system it originally
came from.
Combat - I do not focus on the sporting side of the martial arts, only the combat aspect.
Arts - What I teach is a combination of many martial arts and is a skill that is learned
over a lifetime. The study of true martial arts is never ending.
Academy - It is a place where you are coming to train and learn.
All are welcome to come and train. Whether you are someone who has never trained before in a
martial art or someone who holds rank in another martial art, as long as you are over 13 years
old you are more than welcome to come and see what we have to offer.
Each class focuses on improving a person's cardiovascular fitness, flexibility, coordination, speed,
strength and timing. When you first start you will learn how to punch and kick correctly and
how to apply basic but effective self-defence techniques. You will also learn how best to avoid
being a victim in the first place, and how to deal with fear and the adrenal rush if you are
confronted by an attacker.
As your training progresses and you move up the grades all ranges of combat are taught, namely
kicking, punching, grappling, ground fighting and weapons. All techniques taught incorporate
Kyusho Jitsu pressure point combat.
Please check out the rest of this site. You will find a lot of your questions answered in the FAQ
page. Also you will find some useful information in the self protection tips section.
Stay safe and train hard!
